* Go see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island from afar. Since hurricane Sandy came through, the island and the statue are in need of repair, so no one is able to go and tour around. Sad. But we were about to take a ferry across the waters and ride next to them. Gabby loved being on the boat and we loved seeing the statue and the island. The statue was much smaller than I had thought, but it was still amazing. Ellis Island was beautiful. So perfect.
* Walked the streets of lower Manhattan. Fun.
* Toured 9/11. We didn't know that you needed a ticket to get in. So thank goodness it was slow season. There was a certain reverence there. It was peaceful and sacred. They have done a fabulous job honoring the lives that were lost on that horrific day. It was an honor to be there.
* Walked more of the streets and crossed the Brooklyn Bridge. So amazing. Really one of the highlights of the day. It was so fun. The kids slept the whole time which made it even more relaxing and enjoyable.
*Ate at Grimaldi's Pizzeria. YUM. It was our first coal-brick oven. Delicious. Also delicious because we had walked ALONG way to get to it because we got a little lost. But, it all worked out. Gabby loved it, of course. She is my pizza girl through and through.
*Went back to the hotel and relaxed because it was getting so cold outside!!! And it was 5:30 at night. So, when we got back- Adam and Gabby walked to 7-11 and got Slurpees. This has been their favorite daddy-daughter date. They use to do it all the time back in Utah and now that there was a 7-11 close by, he couldn't resist. They loved it. And Ethan and I enjoyed hanging out together and just chilling. This hotel room was larger than the first. So Gabby slept on her own bed and Ethan slept in the crib. Gabby didn't get the concept of sleeping in her own huge bed with mom and dad sleeping in the one next to her- let's just say it took a bit for us to cozy on down and get to bed that night.
