Day 5 D.C.

We finally made our way down to DC.  How we love DC.  Such a fantastic place.  Since we knew that tomorrow was going to be bitter cold, we decided to walk the monuments today and save the museums for tomorrow.  It worked out great.  We even managed to beat the rain before it came.  Love that.  The kids enjoyed the walking and Adam and I enjoyed the monuments.

 This is the spot were I stood 6 years ago and knew that I was going to marry Adam after a few short weeks of dating.  Now we were finally there together.  Romantic

Day 4: Gettysburg

Loved Gettysburg.  It was one of those spots where you just know that you are going to make your way back there one day.  It was fun to drive around and to listen to the history that took place there.  The area was also beautiful and one that you want to see through all seasons.  The kids did great riding along in the car and making stops every 5 min for a new spot.  It was just a good day for learning and fun.

Day 3- Valley Forge and Gettysburg

The 3rd day we made our way to Gettysburg.  The traffic was horrible through Philadelphia and took longer than what we wanted.  However we were able to pass through Amish Country.  LOVE.  The nice thing about this trip and that we could stop whenever we wanted to and just enjoy whatever came our way.  So we stopped off in Amish Country.  Saw some of their stores and ate Shoo Fly Pie.  AMAZING.  Definitely worth the stop.  I am looking forward to going back one day and exploring some more.  We finally got to Gettysburg area doing Valley Forge first (about 2 hours outside of Gettysburg) and then doing some of Gettysburg before checking into a nicer hotel with some swimming.  What fun.

 Ethan saw the train tracks and made a run for it. HA.  Thank goodness there were no cars coming.  It was a dead city.  No pun intended.  One of the pros about traveling off tour season.
